A Trip to the Cabin

We went to a cabin a few weekends ago that Brents parents bought a share in. We got lost on the way there and the trip that should've only taken 1hr and 30 mins, ended up taking 2 hrs and 30 mins. At least we know how to get there now. Ha.

We eventually got there and had a really fun time, especially Brent and Annie.

Annie loves to throw rocks in water and even though it was freezing cold outside, she had a blast!

Brent also had a really fun time, he built a dam. . .

and Annie always has a great time with grandpa. . .
We had a great time, and now we know where we are going, that will help!

Chocolate Chip Cake

This is a really easy, good cake. We like it warm with vanilla ice cream.

Chocolate Chip Cake

Cake Batter:
2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/3 cups sour cream
2/3 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Middle & Top:
Cinnamon Sugar - 2 tablespoons for each layer
1 bag chocolate chips, divided

Preheat oven to 350 degrees (325 if using a glass pan). Grease a 9 X 13 pan with cooking spray. In a large bowl combine all of the cake batter ingredients. Mix for 1 minute at low speed; mix 3 minutes at medium speed. Pour 1/2 of batter into greased pan. Generously sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over batter making sure to get the corners and then sprinkle with 1/2 bag of chocolate chips. Pour remaining cake batter on top and spread across bottom layer. Repeat with cinnamon and sugar and chocolate chips. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with only a few crumbs (don’t overbake or cake will be dry!).

Bacon Cheeseburger Chicken

This is an easy delicious part of a meal. We had it with mashed potatoes and green beans and it was really good.

Bacon Cheeseburger Chicken

2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter
6 skinless, boneless chicken breasts, split
1/4 cup Teriyaki sauce
1/2 cup Ranch dressing
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 lb bacon (or bacon bits)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large skillet, heat oil & butter over medium-high heat. Add chicken breasts, and saute 4 to 5 minutes each side, until lightly browned. Place browned chicken breasts in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover with teriyaki sauce and ranch. Sprinkle with cheese and top with bacon bits. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes, or until chicken is no longer pink and juices run clear.

Pens

Annie is obsessed with pens. She loves to draw. She loves to trace her hands on paper. I think this is where it started. She cant quite go around her fingers so she just draws over all of them. A few days ago, being the mommy that I am, obviously not paying any attention to her, I found her like this, as happy as can be. . .

Her legs like this. . .

Her tummy like this . . .

Luckily though, no pen on her cute little face. . .

Annie Won!

Annie got 3rd place in the Freedom Festival Baby Contest for 17-23 months. We were more prepared to help her show her personality this time. She showed the judge all of the animals she can sign and made all of their noises. She then danced on the table and the whole thing shook. She did really good, we love her and she is a cutie!

Annie got a t-shirt and a medal just like Maycie did.

She also has the opportunity to be in the parade on the 5th of July in Provo. We'll see how hot it is before we decide!

And just a couple cause I think they look cute together. . .

Way to go, we love you Annie!!

Recipe Box, Recipe Stand

First the recipe box. . .
I bought a plain recipe box from Roberts and 1 - 12x12 sheet of paper and decoupaged it on with mod podge.
I cut out Recipes! with the cricut and decoupaged that over the main paper and did a coat of mod podge over the whole thing to make it uniform and glossy, also easier to dust. I painted the rim so it matched better than the natural wood.

I attempted to make recipe dividers and they turned out alright

and they fit perfectly.

Now the recipe stand. . . This is how it looked to begin with, I got it at my wedding shower. So if you gave it to me and you read this, I really like the stand I am just going to make it a little brighter.

I took the word off and sanded the stand. . .

I painted it white and added the word recipe I cut out of paper because I tried to paint the original ones and it did not go so well.

I cut flowers out of the same paper I did the recipe box in and decoupaged them on.

And this is the finished product

Belliston Family Reunion

We went to Crystal Hot Springs by Brigham City for the Belliston family reunion. It was fun to spend time with people you only see once a year but there was a huge downfall. Poop. Duck Poop to be exact.  But it was fun anyway. Probably wont go back but it was fun.

Like I said there were lots of ducks, and the kids had a blast feeding them. . .

and going on walks with all the girlies. . .

Maycie slept really well in the freezing cold

All the buds waiting for food. . .

Only my grandpa would think its funny to pick his nose for a picture.

Its our turn next year and I can guarantee it will be a place with zero ducks!!

Memorial Day Weekend

I know its really late, but I need to post some pics from Memorial Day weekend.

It started off with a trip to visit Grandma Shaw with the girls and Nana!

Then a trip to Park City to play with the family. It started with a dip in the pool.

Annie's favorite part was playing giant chess and checkers with Kelsey.(Those are her pretty legs in the background)
